Nocturne How to Escape the Trial
Two blackouts. One hatch. If even one Survivor leaves, the living side wins. Play for that person.
The Roblox description is the escape rulebook: two cycles, two blackouts, one hatch out. If even one Survivor extracts, Survivors win. If the hidden Nocturne clears the lobby first, the monster wins. This page is how to be the person who leaves — or the teammate who bought them the seconds. Pair it with how to survive, breaker boxes, and the match planner.
If you are the hidden role, read this backwards. The hatch is your loss condition. Details live on how to play Nocturne.
What “escape” actually is
This is not a full-squad extract game. You do not need four people on a helicopter. You need one living body through the out after the cycles have done their work. Hero last-stands that miss the hatch are losses with extra footage.
The structure is short on purpose. Greed-looting in cycle two is how Nightweaver nests get fed. Pre-decide who is healthiest and which door language looks like “next area” when gas pours. The official Survivor line is literal: when the lights go out and the gas comes in, escape to the next area. That rotation is the hatch route in miniature.
Cycle one is setup, not extract
Do not hunt the hatch in minute one unless the lobby is already a wipe. Cycle one is power, vial watch, tools, and a buddy. Short blackouts make cycle two survivable. Long blackouts make extract a coin flip against Wraith door camps.
If you find extract language early, remember it. Do not stand on it advertising the prop to the hidden player. Note the wing. Go repair. Come back when the second cycle is live.
Cycle two is the exam
When the second blackout is in motion:
- Stop starting far-side boxes.
- Call (in text, because voice is off) who is going out.
- The rest of you buy seconds — body-block a doorway, finish a near box, do not 1v1 “to confirm.”
- Move with the gas, not against it. People who stay in the old room to loot a flashlight die for a prop.
On Ruined Cathedral tiles, the nave is a punishment hallway. Side doors beat the front mouth. Forest-looking key art does not change that if you loaded a church.
Who should extract
The healthiest, closest Survivor. Not the person with the best speech. Not the vial cop who is still arguing a vote. If two people can make it, send one and have the other fake a repair to split attention. One out is a win. Two out is vanity.
If you are wounded and far, you are the decoy, not the extract. That is not an insult. That is Survivor tier S-rank: hatch closer.
What the Nocturne will do
They will stand on the route the gas forces. They will vote the breaker lead in cycle one so cycle two has no power. They will ignore a downed body if footsteps are running the length of the building. You should assume all three. Find the Nocturne before the hatch if you have a real drink tell. If you only have a vibe, leave.
After you escape
The match is over for your side if the rule is one-out. Do not teabag in the lobby as if you 4K’d. Queue again. Redeem codes if you forgot. Update the suspicion checklist with what actually worked.
The architects built a short night. Respect the clock. One hatch is the whole genre.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Do all Survivors need to escape?
No. If even one Survivor escapes, Survivors win. Play for that extract.
When should I go for the hatch?
Treat cycle two as extract time. Cycle one is breakers, loot, and information.
Should I fight the Nocturne at the hatch?
Only if it buys the extractor seconds. A confirm 1v1 that misses the out is a loss.
Where is the hatch on Ruined Cathedral?
Official materials do not publish a labelled prop table. Learn door language on the cathedral guide and rotate with the gas.
